I can hardly believe how quickly this summer flew by. One day I'm un-packing my favorite summer dresses and the next I'm making sure I wear all my summer gear before the season ends. So that's exactly what I'm doing - wearing my brightest colors before I transition into deep plum, navy, camel and all those other neutral colors.
Since I always try to re-invent every piece into something I can wear to work, throwing a button down over a strapless dress is the perfect way to make it a little less scandalous. I'm pretty laid back when it comes to my work attire, but other office environments aren't as flexible. So my rule of thumb is to air on the more conservative side and cover up anything you to have hide - bare backs, cleavage, you get where I'm headed.

You look gorgeous! I love the third photo.
I use those same rules at college...I figure it's always better to be covered up than have a professor get the wrong opinion about you.
I love that dress! I cant believe fall is almost here, except it'll still be incredibly hot for months here.
Yellow is a great color on you! I wish we could wear summer colors in dreary winter b/c it would definitely help alleviate the winter blahs! Then again, what's stopping us?
pretty! Love the bright colors on you. Great idea about throwing the button down over the maxi, will try that out soon!
I like the floral print, and the cover up shirt is cute.
great outfit! that necklace is gorgeous!!
I wear bright colors in the winter too, mainly the combat the gray skies and ugliness outside! In the summer I wear all my short, cotton sundresses and in a few months will switch over to my wool skirts and long sleeved dresses.
The headband/headscarf is darling on you and I like the colors and length of your necklace too!
I love the pop of pink in your headwrap against all the yellows.
The first pic is stunning - you are beautiful, girl!
OOOHHH OK! so you didn't tell me you had a blog too! lol Remember Rivera Maya, Mexico? Well don't you look lovely! lol How's shopping been in Topshop? Let's see how long it takes you to remember me! hehe..

what a fun bright outfit! And the button up really transforms it!
LOVE that Liberty print! And the tied blouse.
Love the Liberty print! And the tied blouse! Fab!
you look so pretty in those summer colors!
you look incredibly gorgeous in these photos!!!! i love the light and how your hair frames your face. can you teach me how to do that headband thingy? kthx :)
SO PRETTY! I love it, and the button down makes it office appropriate, at least for a casual/creative environment.
You're makin' me cheery just looking at you! I love this dress. It's great that your work environment is casual enough for a summer dress like this; mine was pretty flexible, but I definitely would have gotten some looks if I'd have shown up in a maxidress.
p.s. I miss you! I can't believe I'm so late in commenting and catching up with everyone, and that I missed all the rad Chi-town meetups lately. All this moving business has gotten me completely disconnected from the internet world. :-/ Hope you're doing well!!
