amy's candy bar

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon this article from DNA Chicago on my Facebook news feed featuring a mouth watering picture of a candy bar that made my stomach churn with excitement.  The article profiled local shop Amy's Candy Bar and a signature item  that is called the "OMG Bar" that included salted caramel, chocolate ganache and hazelnut praline all covered in dark chocolate.  After I read the article I bolted to the candy shop the next day to purchase a few bars...and  a few more unexpected sweet treats.

Once I walked into the store, it was love at first site.  The walls were lined with bookshelves that housed glass jars filled to the brim with all sorts of sweet goodness.  Everything from nostalgic things like Atomic Fire Bombs to hand made specialties like Chocolate Peanut Butter Logs.  While I had my eye on one particular thing, it was hard to not get side tracked by all the great options.

After taking home a few select goodies it was hard to not dive right in.  I couldn't control my urge for the chocolate goodness and the indulgence was definitely worth it.  I could have eaten every bite of each chocolate and that's a lot coming from someone who usually craves salty vs. sweet.  If you're in the Lincoln Square neighborhood I definitely recommend stopping by Amy's.  You'll enjoy the fun environment and your tummy will thank you!
